Submit Your Site to Yahoo!
Yahoo is the second most searched search engine in the United States second to Google. But with approximately 19% of the nation's total search queries performed on Yahoo!, that's less than a third of Google's market share. It's no wonder that Yahoo! makes submitting websites pretty easy to encourage people to use Yahoo! for their online searches.
Even with such a small percentage of the online search market share, it still makes sense to take the time to submit your site to Yahoo!
For starters, the more links from FREE sources you have linking to your website, the higher your website can rank in Google (read more on how Google ranks websites) and the higher your chances for getting inbound links to your website. The more inbound links you have coming into your website, the higher the number of visitors you will likely have. The higher the number of visitors you have, the more popular your website appears to all search engines. The more popular your website becomes, the higher your website will appear on SERPS (search engine results pages) for specific keyword phrases (click here to read How Search Engines Work) better your chances for selling your products or services via your website. Makes sense, right?
Where does the search engine results display on Yahoo!
Look at the diagram below to see where the Yahoo! results display. Please note that "Sponsored Search" is the pay-per-click area of Yahoo!'s results page. You would pay to display there only when someone clicks on your link. Your positioning is determined by your bid amount and your budget. When you run out of money or don't bid high enough, your website will not display there.

Ready to submit your website to Yahoo!? Let's get started.
First Step: Create a Yahoo! account if you don't already have one.
If you don't have one, when you click on any of the following links, you will be prompted to create one.
Second Step: Decide if you want to go the FREE route or the PAID route.
What's the difference? The FREE submission process allows you to suggest your website which will take anywhere from days to weeks before Yahoo! crawls and indexes your website, but Yahoo! will do it. The PAID route, gets your website crawled and indexed by Yahoo! within 48 hours. The cost to do this is currently a $49 annual fee (price effective as of June 13, 2009). Included in this price is a "club-like" status that gets you access to help tips such as how to improve your website rankings and SEO guidelines through an eNewsletter. Is it needed? Not really. The Yahoo! Search index, which contains several billion web pages, is more than 99% populated through the free crawl process.
